A photoshoot of a transgender couple in the Indian state of Kerala, who is expecting a baby soon, has gone viral. 21-year-old Zia Powell is overjoyed that her 23-year-old partner Zahid is pregnant and the doctors have told her that the baby will be born on February 9.
Although the delivery date was earlier set for next month, Zahid was admitted to the hospital on Monday due to diabetes. Zia told BBC that the baby will be born on February 9. Zia laughed when asked what people were saying about the baby's birth.
The transgender community is quite content, but Zia acknowledged that some people both inside and outside the community still hold onto antiquated ideas. They are aware that trans males cannot have parents, yet it makes no difference to them. While Zahid was born a female but now wishes to be called a boy, Zia was born a boy but wanted to be called "Ma." Three years ago, the two met in the state's Kozhikode district.

We asked if you both came together to have a baby. On this question, Zia laughed and said, "No, we just fell in love." Long after they were separated from their respective families for various reasons, their relationship grew.
Zia stated, "I hail from a traditional Muslim family that never permitted me to study classical dance. My hair was cut short because they were such old-fashioned people that I was unable to dance. I went to a youth festival and didn't come home afterward.
